Focus Your Passions In A Positive Direction

Much has been said and written about the need for us to be passionate about what we feel to be most essential and important. However, care must be taken to use this passion in a productive and positive manner, rather than in a negative and destructive one. When we feel strongly and deeply about something, we either choose to do something proactively to enhance and potentiate what is most important, but when we permit our passions to emphasize our negative reactions, attitudes, and actions, we damage both our visions and our own credibility. In order for passion to bring on meaningful results, it must encourage and motivate, both us personally, as well as others to want to achieve the same goals. While our thoughts and passions may be personal in nature, in order for us to achieve and accomplish, we must convert passion to motivational power to make needed changes, etc.
1. When passions move us forward in a positive manner, they create a better understanding of needs and why changes might be needed. When this creates a positive attitude and we focus on needs, plans and courses of action, our passions become positive and motivating. Only when a passionate person is able to motivate others to either share his vision, goals, or hopefully his passions, then he unifies others to share ownership in the plans, and when well meaning people work together, there becomes a nearly limitless potential for achievement. However, negative passions are nearly always counter - productive, because they foster resentment and usually only look at why something is wrong and does not work, rather than on getting essential things done.
2. The key to productive passion is converting it to motivation and direction. Someone lacking passion might share important ideals and goals, but their lack of passion often limits their persistence and perseverance. Motivated individuals adopt a mindset of can and will, rather than try and maybe. All the trying in the world does not get things done unless and individual believes that he can and will succeed, and does not permit obstacles to obstruct his focus on what is needed, and why.
We all have certain passions, but the difference between productive and unproductive passion is generally how these energies are funneled. When we focus on the greater good and needs, rather than merely on the emotions, we cause ourselves to aim in the direction that will achieve what needs to get done.
